How long will my dome last?

Farley domes are built to last, with a lifespan of 20-25 years. Plus, our durable outer membrane comes with a 20-year prorated warranty, so you can count on long-lasting performance that stands the test of time.

Can I take my dome down for the summer and reinstall it for the winter?

Absolutely! Many of our customers choose seasonal installations, allowing them to take down their dome for the summer and reinstall it for winter use. Smaller domes can be set up or taken down in 1-2 days, while larger domes may take around 5-7 days. The Farley Group’s Sales team is dedicated to helping you determine the best option—seasonal or permanent—based on your needs. We’ll also guide you on ongoing maintenance to ensure your dome continues to perform at its best year after year.

How much pressure is needed to inflate a dome?

Farley domes are designed with a flexible air pressure system that adjusts based on wind and weather conditions, ensuring stability and optimal performance. Our technology allows the dome’s pressure to modulate as needed, so it stays reliably inflated while efficiently adapting to its environment.

Should I be worried about dome failure?

Dome failures are extremely rare and are preventable with proper maintenance and adherence to the Operations Manual. At The Farley Group, we emphasize preparation as the key to successful dome operation. We provide industry-leading after-sales support, including a 24-hour emergency line to address any questions or issues that may arise. With our guidance and your attention to recommended operational practices, you can confidently ensure the safe and reliable performance of your dome year-round.

Will my dome deflate if there’s a power outage?

Our domes are equipped with emergency standby systems, including backup generators and inflation fans, as well as an auxiliary fan, to maintain the structure’s inflation during power outages. These safeguards ensure that your dome remains securely inflated, regardless of external power interruptions.

Should I be concerned about vandalism?

Vandalism is rarely a significant concern. Small tears can be easily and quickly repaired, and it would take a substantial tear to impact the dome’s integrity. The Farley Group offers a 24/7 hotline and a dedicated road crew ready to provide support across North America, ensuring any issues are resolved swiftly to keep your dome secure.

Is my dome a fire hazard?

Farley domes are designed with safety in mind and comply with NFPA 701 standards for fire safety. The fabric has self-extinguishing properties, with a flame-out time of less than two seconds, meaning it cannot sustain combustion even if exposed to flames. Your dome is built to prioritize safety and minimize fire risks.

Can the dome withstand snow and wind loads?

Absolutely. Each Farley dome is custom-designed by our estimating and design team to meet site-specific requirements, including local wind, snow, and temperature loads. We carefully analyze these factors to ensure your dome is built to withstand local conditions, providing you with an accurate quote tailored to your needs.

What keeps the dome in place?

Farley domes are anchored securely with a continuous foundation and aluminum profile around the perimeter. This design ensures a single, continuous stress point without the need for additional anchor points. For seasonal domes, artificial grass or patches can be placed over the foundation to maintain a level surface, minimizing tripping hazards and providing a safe space for summer outdoor play.

Can you feel the air pressure inside the dome?

Typically, you won’t notice any difference. The dome maintains a balanced internal pressure that equalizes with the external pressure as you enter, ensuring a seamless transition. This balance keeps the dome inflated while making the pressure difference virtually unnoticeable.

Do you have domes for sale off-the-shelf?

What’s the difference between air-inflated and air-supported structures?

Air-Inflated Structures: In air-inflated structures, only certain components, like internal walls or panels, are inflated. The main structure itself is supported by a rigid frame. Air is pumped into these inflatable sections to maintain their shape, but the overall structure relies on solid supports, such as metal or fabric, for stability.

Air-Supported Structures: In contrast, air-supported structures, like Farley domes, rely entirely on a slightly higher internal air pressure than the outside atmosphere to stay inflated. The entire structure is held up by air pressure, with no rigid framework. The air pressure inside is carefully regulated, and the structure is anchored around its perimeter to keep it stable. This creates a large, open interior space ideal for various uses, from sports facilities to event spaces.
